The Cattaraugus County Soil & Water Conservation District's mission is to protect and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the present and future generations of Cattaraugus County residents through the conservation and enhancement of soil, water, air, flora, and fauna through the delivery of science-based technical and educational assistance.
Allegany-Limestone Team #1, led by advisor Mr. Dan Waugaman, took first place in the 2023 Cattaraugus County Envirothon, held on April 26th at Allegany State Park. They will now advance to the 2023 New York State Envirothon at Hobart & William Smith College on May 24th and 25th. Olean City School District took second place and Allegany-Limestone Team #2 placed 3rd. In all, 8 teams representing 5 schools participated in this year’s program, and 2023 was the 31st year that Cattaraugus County has held an Envirothon competition. Over 40 high school students competed.
